Applying Nanoxeal yourself
We sell the product to homeowners and contractors alike. Here is honestly what it takes, and when doing it yourself is not worth it.
Can you do it?
Yes, on plenty of surfaces. A pump sprayer or a roller will apply the product. But be clear about what you give up against a professional application: less even film thickness, poorer penetration into the material, and more product burned to cover the same area. We apply with an industrial high-pressure airless, and that is what produces an even, controlled coat.
What you need
- A sprayer. High-pressure airless for a result comparable to ours; pump sprayer or roller if you accept a less even finish.
- A clean, dry surface. Preparation matters as much as application.
- 10 °C and up, with some flexibility, and a rain-free window.
- Proper means of working safely if you are going up on a roof.
How much product
A 19 L (5 gal) pail covers 1,000 to 1,200 sq ft in two coats. Always allow one pail beyond the bare minimum: running out halfway across a surface is the worst outcome there is.
Pricing starts at $599 per pail and comes down with the quantity ordered.
Measure my areaThe mistakes we see most
Not hypotheticals. This is what we find on the surfaces we get called back to.
- Uneven, uncontrolled application. The thin spots fail first, and they do not show right away.
- Poor penetration: the product sits on the surface instead of working into the pores of the material.
- Problem areas missed, usually the least accessible ones.
- Moss or algae sealed IN under the coating. Worst case: the growth keeps working underneath, and the only fix is to strip it all off.
- The wrong product for the surface.
The warranty does not follow
Applied by our crews, the treatment is warranted on water-repellent performance and UV resistance: 15 years if the roof is under 10 years old, 10 years if it is older. Transferable if you sell the property. Applied by you, there is no warranty, not a reduced one, none. We cannot warrant an application we did not perform. It is the one difference you cannot make up for later.
When to have us do it
- A two-storey shingle roof, or a steep pitch.
- When you want the warranty: 15 years if the roof is under 10 years old, 10 years if it is older.
- When there is moss or algae to remove first.
- A large area where an even coat decides the result.
